North Devon's principle town of Barnstaple rests at the mouth of the Taw Estuary, on the wonderful stretch of coastline between Westward Ho! and Croyde. This traditional market town is bustling with holidaymakers, who flock here to enjoy the pannier market along with a range of shops, restaurants, bars and two sandy beaches, which offer excellent surfing conditions. Barnstaple lies at the end of the magnificent Tarka Trail, which takes you through the spectacular North Devon countryside and a stretch of coastline, while the magnificent Exmoor National Park is a short drive away.

Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?
