A beautiful Victorian country house built circa 1866 and set within a perfect pocket estate comprising some 15 acres, the pleasure grounds retaining the meticulously planned original Victoriana layout and form.

House would be suitable as a home, guesthouse or B&B.

Previous inhabitant Michael Jackson, Julienne Scanlon and her husband John Scanlon, publicist for President Bill Clinton and President Ronald Regan, Nobleprize winner Seamus Heaney and playright Spalding Grey. Many more writers and stars from film industry have stayed at Coolatore House and nearby Grouse Lodge recording studio has attracted many music entertainers.

The closest villages for supplies, but also a selection of pubs, restaurants and cafes, are Moate, Rosemount [1.3 miles] and Ballymore. Within the locality there are many family run pubs providing fine Guinness, Irish music and hospitality. The large towns of Mullingar and Athlone are both a 25 minute drive away. Several of Ireland’s best golf courses are nearby, including Mullingar, Glasson and Esker golf courses.

back hall to an outside courtyard with an array of stores, one now the laundry room.

The grounds are quite magical with the delightfully formally arranged Victorian gardens surrounding the house, mainly arranged around the South and West facing facades, linking seamlessly from gravelled pathways to the glorious woodland.
